Frequently Asked Questions

Got some questions for us? Below is some information that should hopefully answer most queries but if you need more information please don’t hesitate to drop us a line here or call us on 01283 372 715.

If you are thinking of booking us for your wedding before October 2019 please read information on our ceremony licence here.

The Wedding Barn

Are you open yet?

Yes! We held our first wedding in June 2019. While we still have some work to be done, the barns are now open.

When can we come to see the venue?
We are available to show you around the venue 7 days a week and can also offer evening appointments. To come and say hello please give us a call on 01283 372 715 to arrange a time or drop us a message. As mentioned above we are currently under construction but we will be able to show you round and give you an update on our progress.
How do we find you?
We’re right in the middle of the country, easy to get to from wherever you’re coming from. For a Sat Nav use the postcode DE13 8TN or you can find us on Google Maps here.
Can we get married at the Wedding Barn?

We will be applying for our wedding licence as soon as construction is complete, so while we can hold a wedding celebration from mid-June 2019 onwards we are unable to hold a civil marriage ceremony until September 2019, however, this date is not guaranteed.

We are still available to host a wedding reception and evening entertainment before that date and we will be able to host an informal ceremony held by a friend or professional wedding celebrant. Also we are still available if you wish to get married elsewhere, for example at a local church or registry office, or if you would like to hold the legal ceremony before the day and then have a second non legal ceremony with us.

You can find a local humanist wedding celebrant on the Humanism website.

What dates are the barns available for our wedding day?
We keep a live calendar so you can see exactly when we are available for your wedding day. To take a look please click here.
Do you charge corkage?

Yes, we charge £4.50 per day guest aged 18 or over should you want to bring your own wine and toast drink for the wedding breakfast. This charge is to cover the cost of chilling and serving the wine, use of the glassware and recycling the bottles.

Do we get exclusive use of the venue?
Absolutely yes! Exclusive use begins from one hour before your ceremony through to midnight, however you may have access to get ready and set up earlier. This is about your big day and no-one else’s – however you decide to celebrate.
Is there parking? Can we leave cars overnight?
Free parking is available but please encourage your guests to consider the use of car sharing as space can be limited if all guests drive separately. You are welcome to leave a car with us overnight but we ask all cars be removed by 10 am the next day.
What are the accommodation options?

We have a bridal preparation room on site for use in the morning and for the bride during the day. For overnight accommodation there are several excellent hotels very close by. For more information see our local accommodation page.

Are pets welcome on site?
Any well behaved pet is welcome with us, after all for some it wouldn’t be a wedding day without a four legged friend in attendance.
What are the disabled facilities like?
We are disability and pram friendly with wheelchair access to all barns and surrounding grounds.
Do your prices include VAT?
Yes, all our prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable. You can see more information on our prices here.
Does the venue hire include tables and chairs?
Yes, we have a mix of circular dining tables, oblong “top” tables and square tables for your wedding cake and other display tables available. We also have seating for both an indoor and outdoor ceremony.

Your Wedding Day

When can we access the Bridal Suite?
You will be able to have access to the Bridal Dressing Room from 8am on the day of your wedding. The room is well equipped with everything a bride and her entourage will need, including plenty of mirrors and plug sockets, daylight balanced light for makeup, and somewhere cold to keep the champagne.
How many can you seat for the ceremony?
Although we don’t have exact numbers yet as construction continues, we estimate we will be able to seat up to 160 for either indoor or outdoor ceremonies.
Can we decorate or use a Venue Dresser to decorate the Barns? When can we start setting up for the day?
On the day of your wedding your Venue Dresser and any other suppliers may have access from 8am onwards to begin setting up. Any personal decorations such as table plans and favours can be delivered to us in advance of the day with prior arrangement.  We ask that all large items or decorations on the beams are removed by 9am the following morning, and smaller items are collected by 10 am unless an alternative arrangement has been made.
Can we get married outside?

If you’ve always dreamed of an outdoor wedding in the countryside, we can help. Our beautiful wedding pavilion, set in our garden overlooking the lake, is ideal for an outdoor ceremony. And don’t worry – we always have plans in place to move indoors if the British weather lets us down.

Who conducts the wedding ceremony?
Please ensure you book your church ceremony directly, or your civil ceremony with the Staffordshire Registry Office on 0300 111 8001 or email registrarsenquiries@staffordshire.gov.uk
Can we use confetti?
You are more than welcome to use confetti. We do ask however that only dried flower petals are used and it is thrown outside. Please avoid any plastic confetti as it is damaging to the local environment. We would be grateful if you could notify your guests of this and supply suitable confetti for the occasion.
Which caterers can we use?

We offer a choice of four amazing caterers. You can see more details on them here.

Can we have a BBQ or Hog Roast?
We will have a dedicated BBQ area for your caterer to use if you fancy a BBQ or Hog Roast for your wedding breakfast or evening buffet. The equipment itself will be provided by your caterer if they offer that option.
Can we use fireworks and sky lanterns?
Fireworks and sky lanterns are prohibited due to the dangers of damaging the surrounding national forest and crops or upsetting livestock.
What time does the bar close and the music finish?
Last orders are at 11.45, the bar closes and the music finishes at 12 am.
What time should we ask guests to order their taxis?
Carriages at midnight as the Barn needs to be vacated by 12.15 am.
