Even though the days are growing shorter and the nights get that bit chillier, we still think it’s the perfect time to have a wedding! At Hanbury, the barns were designed to ensure that weddings could take place all year round. With plenty of room to move around, spaces flowing in to one and other, cosy nooks for the perfect photos, we want you to have the most magical day no matter the weather.
To celebrate this Kemp & Kemp, one of our lovely caterers, have launched a special winter food package where, between November 2023 and April 2024 you pay from £45 plus VAT per person, inclusive of crockery, cutlery, linen, and staff based on a minimum of 50 guests eating two courses. We asked Richard and Karen about why they love winter weddings so much.
Why do you think so many more couples are opting for a winter wedding?
With more and more pressure piling on summer dates, following two disrupted wedding seasons, securing a wedding on one of these highly coveted summer days has become harder and vastly more expensive. This means that more couples than ever are considering holding their weddings outside these traditional summer months.
You say that you think a barn is the ideal location for a winter wedding, why do you say this?
Weddings are about bringing people together. a rustic wedding barn can be the ideal choice for a stylish, more cosy day. In winter no-one expects anything from the weather. There’s no stressing, no fevered analysis of the MET office online forums, because whatever happens – you’ll be indoors! You may even be pleasantly surprised – frost and snow and chilly winter mornings make for fairy-tale photographs.
How can couples create that perfect winter wedding feel?
Think intimate. Imagine warm, rich, dark colours, roaring log fires, cosy candlelight and sumptuous hot chocolate and mulled wine. Your guests won’t remember a spectacle, they’ll remember how they felt, so plan something from the heart.
What is your perfect menu for a winter wedding?
We just love the cosy, rustic winter feast aesthetic; It really is a chance to indulge and get stuck into some seriously hearty, rich, flavourful menus. bring your guests together over sumptuous sharing boards and platters-piled-high with mouth-watering treats. Slow braises, steak & ale pies, gourmet sausages and creamy mash, melt-in-the-mouth apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding, we could go on and on.
